Co-founder and personal trainer for MyHealthInBalance.com

Having participated in sports since a very young age, I have always been fascinated with the concept of optimal performance during physical activity. Throughout my life, I have had varying ranges of physical health from less than optimal to exceptional and I greatly appreciated being on the latter side of the spectrum.  I truly value my health and strive to maintain an environment that supports that value. It is my goal to inspire others to do the same.

Living in a fast-paced society, it is easy to claim lack of time for not incorporating physical activity and healthy eating habits into our lives. Yet, if we value our health and quality of life it is imperative that we find a way to create habits that fit into our lives and allow us to make better choices.  Living healthy helps us reduce stress, have more energy, have a positive outlook on life and feel better overall. I believe that we can help others through understanding, awareness and education. I know how much better a person, who is not currently in very good physical shape, will feel when they incorporate small lifestyle changes over time and how rewarding it is to see someone make positive behavior changes and create a mindset of lifelong healthy habits. I want to empower everyone I can with this knowledge and let them discover that the process can be fun, exciting, simple, and rewarding.

I have over fifteen years experience as an educator, personal trainer and weight management consultant. I received a BA in Social Ecology at UC Irvine and an MA in Physical Education at Fresno State. I am currently the professor of Physical Education at South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia, Washington. I also currently hold a certification as a Personal Trainer and Lifestyle Management Consultant through the American Council on Exercise.
